She’s playing with friends and then the coughing starts. They’re still going, but she stops, wheezing and struggling to breathe, afraid of drowning in the open air. Erich has asthma, guys, and she needs a sponsor ASAP. When you’re a dad with 3 kids and only an occasional paycheck, it’s pretty discouraging to face the choice of buying medicine for your little girl or buying food for the rest of the family. Thankfully, the Patnubay Child Development Center in the Philippines is helping as much as they can. Sponsors who already provide for children sometimes add a little extra for Compassion International’s emergency programs such as:
- Safe Water
- Disaster Relief
- Malaria Intervention
- AIDS and HIV Treatment
- Health and Parenting Skills
- Child Survival Program – Healthcare and parenting skills for expecting mothers and newborns
- Vulnerable Children – Children who have severely ill parents or need extra protection from abuse and exploitation
Erich needs someone to step up and say, “I’ve got you.” Sponsorship would give Erich everything she needs to grow up healthy and capable, so she can provide for herself and her own future family.
She’s not just a sick little girl—she’s a 5-year-old who likes playing house and taking care of her dolls, because her mom and dad are still together and she wants to be a mom someday, too. She’s in pre-school right now, and with your TLC she’ll do very well. I’d love to see that scared little face smile!
I’m participating in Compassion International’s “Release 3” project, praying that the children whose information I have on my desk today will connect with some of you. John Michael, Mathias, Deysi, Bryan and Erich need your friendship and $38 per month, to make it through childhood healthy and hunger-free, entering adulthood with real plans instead of wishes. Let me know which child you’d like to sponsor, and I’ll send you the information. Share this with your friends, too.
In case you wonder, I will never take your money or your credit info. I will send you to the Compassion site and provide you with sign-up information for these children. I get nothing but the joy of knowing that I helped a few more children by spreading the word.
